Plasma-enhanced N<sub>2</sub> fixation in a dielectric barrier discharge reactor: effect of packing materials

The effect of Al2O3 and BaTiO3 packing on the plasma-enhanced NOx synthesis from air was investigated in a packed-bed dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) reactor. characteristics are significantly influenced by different materials into gap. Compared with DBD without packing, presence or beads effectively enhanced charge accumulation, average electric field, mean electron energy, all which contribute to production NOx. lowest energy consumption 15.9 MJ mol−1 for achieved when placing DBD, can be attributed increased using facilitating formation more N2 excited species reaction. These results suggest that choosing proper reduce cost plasma DBD.
